Who are the intended participants?

  • Employees whose work includes participation in termination meetings (senior managers, HR employees, etc.)

Programme

  • Termination meeting preparation (legal aspects, various scenarios, reasoning, further steps)
  • Conducting the meeting (who should be present at the meeting, timing, formulating the key message, time for discussion)
  • Information selection (what to share with the employee to be dismissed and what not, preparing arguments, how to argue in case of disagreement)
  • Recommended non-verbal expressions
    • dealing with difficult situations and their typology:
    • expressions of regret and self-pity, crying and desperation (e.g. pointing out dismal social situation, threatening to self-harm, etc.)
    • aggression and attacks, threats of litigation or other negative consequences for the terminating person or the company
    • negation, refusal, constant disagreement and questioning of legal or other aspects of the termination
    • apathy, indifference, listlessness, depression, etc.
