The training course is organised in cooperation with the KPMG Business Institute in Slovakia.
KPMG Game of Business
In consulting practice, we often encounter the problem that employees don’t have a clear view of how their work fits into the larger context of how the business operates.
This can cause frustration and demotivation as employees do not understand the importance of their activities within the overall organisation and do not see how their work contributes to the success of the business as a whole.
Their attention is usually focused only on their particular area of activity.
As a result, interdepartmental cooperation is impaired, which can lead to conflicts and unidentified synergies that could promote a more efficient and harmonious running of the company.
Some companies address this problem, for example through job rotation programmes, but these are time-consuming and only accessible to a limited number of people.
Our solution: an interactive simulation – the KPMG Game of Business
In 2019, Tatiana Hargašová and her colleagues created a unique training – the KPMG Game of Business interactive simulation.
Learning new skills and understanding the broader connections between different departments requires an interactive and safe environment. During the KPMG Game of Business you will try out different tasks without fear of negative consequences for the company. This approach allows you to experiment, make mistakes and learn from your decisions.
As Confucius said, “I hear and I forget. I see and remember. I act and I understand.” You will take away much more from training using this method than from traditional training. You will understand the connections between the different processes within an organization. You will better understand the financial implications of your decisions.
The KPMG Game of Business offers you a unique bird’s eye view of the company and the market. On the game board, you will see all the essential elements of a business – inventory, production capacity, employee team, receivables and costs. In the marketplace, you will compete against other teams of participants who run competing companies.
The simulation will allow you to try out the different roles of production, sales and finance directors in a short period of time and decide on the strategic actions of the company. This experience will give you valuable experience of how decisions in one area can transfer to other parts of the business. You will improve your ability to collaborate across departments and contribute to the success of the company as a whole.
During the training you will gain experience with:
- Market expansion: researching and entering new markets.
- Financing management: making decisions on loans and debt.
- Liquidity management: monitoring cash flow and working capital.
- Budgeting: preparing financial plans and sales planning.
- Bidding for contracts: quotations and quality and brand evaluation.
- Producing financial statements: preparing the balance sheet and income statement
- Presenting to investors: preparing investor presentations.
Building the skills of the future
Based on our survey “Future skills – Is Slovakia ready?” companies in Slovakia highlighted three key skills that employees often lack:
- Critical thinking
- Adaptability to change
- Creative thinking
During the simulation, you will learn these skills in a playful way and engage in a competition with teams from other companies.
Who is the training useful for?
The training is suitable for employees from different departments such as IT, HR, production, logistics or sales, regardless of previous experience in finance and management.
The training is mostly delivered as closed training for companies (in Slovak or English). It is suitable for teamleaders, managers, talent program, as well as company management. For each group the training may have a different objective. KPMG Game of Business can also be an interesting teambuilding.
In October, there is an opportunity to sign up for an open training session, which is open to participants from several companies.
The KPMG Game of Business is the perfect opportunity to experience the dynamics of strategic management and have fun at the same time!
